Suicide Squad is now playing in theaters. Whether this is a must-have for serious collectors, or a nice extra for fans who haven't seen everything in it just yet, it's sure to be a big seller for Amazon's holiday shoppers.īatman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice Amazon Limited Edition Box Set releases December 6th, 2016. However, we will presumably see Snyder, Geoff Johns, and the cast and crew in a variety of featurettes in the two hours of bonus material - although if you have watched the bonus material on the earlier DVD releases, there may not be a vast amount of new features to enjoy. This was a feature also missing from the original Ultimate Edition release, so it looks like we won't be hearing from Zack Snyder in a commentary feature any time soon. There is no mention of a DVD commentary, however, which will be a disappointment to those fans who love the candid nature of director's commentary features. The price is also going to impress anyone who would otherwise be purchasing the action figures and Blu-Rays separately - although it may seem steep to anyone less interested in the collectible extras. Although they (obviously) won't have the cash value that copies of the original comics would, a reprint is a great treat for fans of the characters who would love to own physical copies of the stories that started it all. The reprints of Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27 are an especially nice touch. This is sure to be a big Christmas wish-list item for fans of Batman v Superman, as well as anyone who hasn't yet seen the Ultimate Edition of the film. The focus is clearly on the two title superheroes, with both getting their own figurine and a reprint of the comics where they made their first appearance. Although Wonder Woman was a significant character in the film - and felt by many critics to be one of the high points of the original cut - she doesn't make much of an appearance in this box set, only on the collectible cards. This set brings together the DCEU Justice League so far, with both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, although it doesn't include every DCEU film so far ( Suicide Squaddoesn't have a DVD release date announced yet, but is projected for November/December). As well as the films themselves, the box set also comes with several collector's items: Batman and Superman figurines, six trading cards, and re-prints of Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27. As well as the original theatrical cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on Blu-Ray + Ultraviolet, the set also includes the Ultimate Edition cut with an extra 30 mins of footage, Man of Steel, two hours of bonus content. Now, is has been revealed exactly what will be going into their Limited Edition Box Set for the film, and it is going to be packed with much more than just the theatrical and Ultimate cuts of the movie.Īccording to Amazon, the set is currently available to pre-order for $123.99, and will be released on December 6th, just in time for Christmas shopping. The Ultimate Edition, an R-rated extended cut, was released in July and met with more favorable reviews. However, it was not an unqualified success, panned by critics and hugely divisive among fans. The film did phenomenally well at the box office, raking in over $870 million in theaters worldwide.

If you’re making something that you want to stand out in an artistic way like The Lighthouse or Mommy (my favourite use of a different aspect ratio I’ve ever seen), then I’m all for it. It doesn’t seem to fit the feel of a film like this. Sure, it works in an IMAX theater where the screen is so big that you can barely fit it all in without moving your head, but it doesn’t work nearly as well at home where you have to shrink the overall image size down to fit it into a 16×9 screen, at least for an action film. The weird thing about that ratio for a film like this though, is that it doesn’t feel very modern and cinematic. I always want my classic films in 4:3 as I don’t want anything cut off, and I refused to watch the first seasons of The Simpsons on Disney+ until they fixed the aspect ratio. The general public thinks that IMAX means their screen is filled (which I realized when I saw how many people said they “loved the IMAX scenes” in Mandalorian S2:E1).ĭon’t get me wrong, I’m all for viewing a film in its original aspect ratio, especially if that’s the director’s intent.
